Special Education Teacher
Duties and Responsibilities
Warren Central Elementary is looking to fill a Special Education Teaching Position. A current Indiana Teachers License is required.
The candidate should be able to develop student IEPs, hold annual reviews to meet all requirements, and ensure the student’s IEP is focused on attainment of grade appropriate academic standards as defined by the state, collaborating with classroom teachers, providing direct instruction or inclusion support as needed. The candidate should be able to identify student needs, keep appropriate records and progress, make appropriate referrals and develop strategies. This position will be for a resource room teacher as well as some direct instruction of special education students. They should understand and support the goals of Warren Central Elementary. The candidate will also perform related duties as assigned by the principal to meet the particular needs of the building.
- Experience and ability to plan education learning experiences
- Ability to assist students in achieving their learning goals
- Ability to integrate technology into their learning activities
- Must be child-centered and team-oriented
- Ability to work well with others
- Demonstrate strong classroom management
- Be proficient in differentiation of instruction for students
- Understand the importance of communication with staff and parents concerning the learning process.
- Progress monitor to evaluate pupil's progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents
- Discuss student's academic and behavior problems with parent and administrators and suggest needed interventions
